In the fall of 1978, under the leadership of Associate Pastor Roger Harris, an investigative task force was formed of Crossroads Christian Church members to lay the foundation for establishing a Christian preschool in the south Corona area. The result of their work was a preschool program that focused on meeting the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social, and physical needs of young children. The Preschool opened in September of 1979 with the options of half-day and full-day classes for 2 – 5 year-olds.
By the fall of 1980 Crossroads added a full Kindergarten class and several more preschool classes. The next year a second kindergarten class was added along with a first grade and second/third grade combination class. By the fall of 1982, CCS had 6 elementary classes: two Kindergartens, one classroom each of first, second, third, and a fourth/fifth grade combination class.
In September of 1983 the purchase of 3 acres made it possible to relocate the elementary school to a new campus at 1400 Fullerton Avenue. The move enabled the elementary school to grow and develop as well as afforded the preschool further opportunity for expansion at Rancho and Main Street. By 1985, the elementary campus had expanded to include its first sixth grade class of seventeen students and its first seventh grade class of twelve! The following year an eighth grade class was added to the program.
In 1993 CCS purchased the house and the two-story building in the front of the Fullerton Avenue campus, which allowed the addition over the next couple of years of three additional classrooms, a computer lab and a school library. The elementary school had grown to 265 students.
In 1996 Crossroads Christian Church moved to its new location at the corner of Ontario and Kellogg Avenues. The intermediate school and the Preschool moved to the new location giving them both beautiful new facilities for ministry and growth.
In 2001 Crossroads Christian Schools, received both ACSI and WASC Accreditation for a 6-year term. Few schools are awarded both accreditations simultaneously and for such a lengthy term.
In order to continue to meet the growing demand for Christian education, CCS separately incorporated in 2001 as Crossroads Christian Schools of Corona. Roger Harris became the CEO/President of the newly incorporated religious nonprofit schools. This incorporation allowed the schools to purchase seventeen acres at the corner of Fullerton and Ontario Avenues in 2003. In the fall of 2005 the first building on the new site was completed with four kindergarten classes calling the new campus home. The next fall (2006) four first grade classes joined the kindergarten classes on the new campus while second through eighth grade remained on the Fullerton Avenue campus. Total enrollment K-8th grade was 549 students.
With the addition of another fifty thousand square feet of office and educational space all the students, preschool – 8th grades were able to move together on to the new campus in the fall of 2007. The move allowed the preschool to make two new additions to the program: a 5-day afternoon half-day classroom for pre-k students and a full-day class for two-year olds. Along with larger classrooms each age group has a separate play area designed for their use. Besides expanded office space and larger classrooms for K-8 grades, there is state-of-the-art technology access in classrooms and offices. Included also is a supplementary-programs wing which houses the chapel/multi-purpose room, a technology lab large enough for up to 30 students, a school library, a performing arts classroom and a complete school kitchen for cafeteria services. There is also a sports complex with a 3 acre combination soccer, football and baseball field, sports courts, and a playground. Ultimately, it will also include bleacher seating and a concessions stand. Of the 17 acres purchased, almost 8 acres remain for future growth and development.
